Every year, there are INSANE takes all over the internet for fantasy football. All of those takes are immediately shut down by the goblins that live on Twitter and Reddit, but how many of them are actually right? Well the only guy that thought Josh Allen was going to win NFL MVP is telling you that some of these smoking hot takes aren’t as crazy as you may think they are. First and foremost, I’d like a formal apology from everyone about my Josh Allen take last year, as it took a career year from one of the greatest QB’s of all time to take away the award from him. Secondly, listen up, and listen well, because I am back with even hotter takes that just might burn you if you get too close.
Corey Davis Will Finish as a Top 20 WR
I’d like to take a moment to apologize to my dear friend and producer, Mr. Joe Green for doubting his intuition. Davis has all of the boxes checked for the opportunity to finish inside the Top 20. Don’t believe me? Let me show you the light at the end of the tunnel. Corey Davis has a rookie QB in Zach Wilson that will need a man that he can trust, especially in 3rd down situations. Not to mention, the passing game will be simplified for Wilson’s first year behind center as he gets used to the NFL level and speed of the game. Corey Davis, as many probably forgot because of the craziness of what was last year, had 5 games with over 100 yards last year all with AJ Brown feasting, in a run heavy offense. Do you need more? Did we all forget how bad the Jets secondary is? Because I for one most assuredly did not, ranking in the bottom 5. Corey Davis is currently going in the 9th round in drafts, and has 4th round upside. Take him in every draft, and if you are in my league, good luck getting him.

Kenneth Gainwell is the 2021 Antonio Gibson
Now I know what you are saying, “But what about Miles Sanders?” What about him?! He is and has been living in the shadow of Saquan since his days at Penn State. He is an average running back at best and can’t seem to even get the full workload in this backfield with scrubs behind him. Kenny Gainwell is an elite pass catching back and in my eyes was the best 3rd down back to come out of the draft this year. If any deep sleeper RB could break out and change a team, it's this guy. He is currently competing with Boston Scott aka Mighty Mouse for the 3rd down role. If he beats him out, I see a clear path for him to put up a massive 2nd half of the season especially with how bad that defense is and a young QB that could use a reliable receiver out of the backfield.

Pat Friermuth Finishes as a Top 10 TE
This take changed slightly from Top 7 to Top 10 based on the reality of the situation. I may have been a little overhyped with the young TE (anyone that knows my content would agree). But as a Steelers fan, I’ve come to learn one thing while watching preseason: When the whole first team is out there, Mike Tomlin will show you exactly how his offense will be run. He isn’t afraid of giving away plays that he could keep quiet or keeping his weapons sidelined. Patty Muth is a monster in the Redzone, and everything that the Steelers and Big Ben wish that Eric Ebron was when they signed him. Patty has great hands, knows how to make separation from defenders, and has the athletic ability to go up and make tough catches which will be vital in the Redzone this year. In the one game that he played with the first squad, he had 2 touchdowns on back to back drives from Big Ben which made the defense look helpless. Beat reporters in Pittsburgh are raving about him and calling him an "essential part of the offense" in training camp. I wouldn't mind taking a late round flyer on him, or scooping him up off of waivers after my drafts as a backup TE to see if he really has the target share to make this hot take come true!

Gabriel Davis Finishes as a Top 24 WR
Gabe Davis was one of my favorite dart throws in DFS last year, and if you took advantage during certain weeks, I may have helped you win some money. This year, I am expecting Davis to make a big leap in production and become the WR2 on a very pass heavy Bills offense. Davis finished 2020 with 599 yards and 7 TDs on 35 receptions, but was starting to become more routinely used in the 2nd half of the season. He is a deep threat option for the Josh Allen Bazooka Arm. Davis was ranked in the top 5 for catch rate and TD % on targets farther than 20 yards. This take is coming more and more realistic as the days inch closer to Week 1 kickoff and Cole Beasley still is the Anti-Vax Star. Gabe has the physical ability to become the WR2 and now it comes down to if Josh Allen puts on another show this year. Don’t sleep on him, I have been banging this drum all offseason and I hope some of you are dancing to the beat.
Joe Mixon Finishes Outside the Top 24 RBs
Why is drafting Joe Mixon in the top half of the 2nd Round still a thing that fantasy players do? Struggles with staying on the field, bad Offensive Line play, still has yet to produce a great receiving season to date, not to mention the Bengals have one of the worst Defenses in the NFL. Seriously, someone tell me why…. Outside of the fact that he is quite talented (we can’t take away natural skill from him) all of the data and scenarios point to him being mediocre.

Amari Cooper Finishes Outside the Top 30 WRs
Dak is back in action after the gruesome ankle injury, but that doesn’t mean Amari will be a top tier WR in 2021. CeeDee Lamb shined through the grime and muck of Andy Dalton and Ben Dinucci starting at QB. Lamb had more targets than Cooper in 7 out of the 16 games they played together. I expect Lamb to have a massive jump in production in his second year with the Cowboys as their young shiny receiver, whereas Amari will continue to be inconsistent and be the second option in the passing game.

Rhamondre Stevenson Leads the Patriots in Rushing TDs
This is the HOT TAKE that has both Mike and myself on the hot seat with a few of our friends and listeners. If this one doesn’t pan out, well then we are sorry for the bad advice. Rhamondre Stevenson is the most talented running back in New England, and personally I’m not sure its all that close. Everytime he is on the field the team scores a touchdown, coincidence? I think not. Stevenson is a bigger back than Harris, and throughout preseason he looked more explosive as well. He has been described as an agile bulldozer, so take what you want from that information. I understand, it’s preseason and take everything with a grain of salt, but good ol’ Billy B knows talent when he sees it. Don’t be surprised if he's the lead back a few weeks into the season. We wanted to be ahead of the early few weeks of waiver wire additions and tell you about him before the season started, but if you didn’t I’ll be sure to write about him every week until you decide to pick him up.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Finishes as a Top 8 RB
Is it so crazy to think that the RB1 for possibly the best team in the NFL will finish in the RB1 range? With the added pieces on the Offensive Line, and no LeVeon Bell to vulture carries, I see a clear path to a Top 8 finish. Through the first 6 games in 2020, CEH was the RB11 and one single touchdown away (which he couldn’t get in if his life depended on it during Week 1) he would have finished as the RB6 through the first 6 weeks of the season. There is a reason he has been creeping up on draft boards, don’t hesitate, don’t miss out.
