I have a quick announcement before we get into the plays for the week. I have decided after much thought and consideration, I will be moving exclusively to DraftKings. I have always played a little of both, but I felt as though people could get the most knowledge from the .5 PPR format since it suits both platforms. For all of you who are here for FanDuel Lineups, the majority of the plays will be relevant for both platforms although the values could differ slightly. After not being able to adjust my lineup for the 4pm games this past Sunday which potentially cost me money, and not being refunded the amount that was promised. No hard feelings toward FanDuel, it wasn’t even their fault it was their provider, however, this guy doesn’t like having his money played with. Hope you all understand and let’s win money!
The slate for Week 6 at first glance looks like JaMarcus Russell playing football, U-G-L-Y. There aren’t many good teams on the main slate, and teams that are playing at top level all have terrible matchups. So what is a DFS guy to do? Get down in the dirt and find the diamonds in the rough. How many of you thought we would be stacking the Miami Dolphins, and the Detroit Lions this year?
Derrick Henry- $7300
Derrick Henry is coming off of throwing the Bills DBs around like rag dolls, literally. Josh Norman will never have the same confidence again. Anyway, Derrick Henry will be the number one fantasy running back this week, you heard it here first. The Houston Texans have given up the 2nd most rushing yards in the league, 141.2 per game. They have given up these same yards to average running backs such as James Conner, and CEH. Derrick Henry is a DE playing RB and he will mow over the Texans. I would also like to point out, many people may fade him because he is playing on a short week but if you watched the game, you would’ve seen that the Titans seemed to have rested him especially in the 4th. Evans and McNichols combined for 31 snaps in Week 5. Henry was out there for 34 of the other snaps, which is 14 less than any other game this season. Photo: SB Nation
Alexander Mattison- $7200
I am not 100% sure, but I think Alexander Mattison is Dalvin Cook’s alter ego. They run the same, catch the same, and pretty similar hair. The only differences are the number and name on the back of the jersey. The Vikings first option in their offense for as long as I can remember has been to run the ball. What is their second option? RUN THE BALL. Whenever his number has been called he has stepped up to the plate. Last week, he ran for 112 yards on 20 carries against a solid run D in Seattle. In the small sample size, he has a career average of 4.7 YPC, which is above the league average. We almost forgot to mention that the Vikings are playing the spiralling Atlanta Falcons this week who have let up 19.4 points to RBs. Now that seems average, until you see that the average rushing attempts are also 19 per game. The Falcons give up a fantasy point every rushing attempt on average. Lock the chalk of the week into your lineups.
Miles Gaskins- $5400
So when the Dolphins signed Jordan Howard and Matt Breida, the community wasn’t super high on either of them and now we see why. Miles Gaskins has doubled the snap count of Howard and Breida combined. He has been a pleasant surprise to say the least. The Dolphins go against the winless Jets this week, who in my opinion may be the worst team I have ever watched. We will go over the bigger picture later on, but Gaskins should get plenty of usage due to the (hopefully) positive game script. Gaskins, on the year, has caught 23 of 25 targets for 147 yards. The downside with Gaskins is that he has struggled to get into the end zone with only one TD but with Howard being a healthy scratch last week I believe that he can get into the end zone this week. The Jets have allowed an average of 110.6 yards, just under 1.5 TDs, and 22.8 points per game to running backs. Lock it in if you are running a Dolphin heavy team.
David Montgomery- $5800
This one is a first for me. David Montgomery will be in one of my lineups, and I’m not embarrassed to say it. I’d even scream it from the mountain tops. We are going back to the well for the freshest water made from the tears of the Panthers run defense this week. The Panthers have given up an average of 25.2 fantasy points per game to RBs. Carolina has also given up FOUR top 3 fantasy finishes to RBs, including Todd Gurley (potentially washed), Leonard Fournette (not good at football), Josh Jacobs (stud). I wouldn’t go as far as to say that Montgomery will be a top 3 back, but since the Tarik Cohen injury, he has taken the full workload on like the player the Bears were hoping he was. He has had a snap count of 85.5% and 81% in the last two weeks. Opportunity for a great game with great value, regardless of the upside in the passing game, is something that will be Flex worthy for me this week. Fun Fact: He is one of my locks of the week for season long fantasy football on the podcast. Photo: Getty Images
Ronald Jones- $6000
I am guilty of being one of those guys that has had his foot in his mouth after years of saying RoJo is not a good football player. RoJo is a decent football player, happy twitter world? This play is solely based off of the matchup, and he was my other lock of the week on the podcast. The Bay of Green has let up the 2nd most fantasy points to RBs, but this could be worrisome to me because the Packers allow half of those fantasy points through the air. The King of the Spin Move will hopefully bring his sticky gloves with him for some classic TB12 dumps to the RB position. RoJo has averaged 4.9 YPC on the season and has had at least 3 targets in all but one game, where Fournette was the hot hand. Ronald Jones…. Yucky but willing to risk it based on the numbers.
Adam Thielen- $7300
Adam Theilen and the Mellow Yellow gloves have been tearing it up this season. He has had back to back 29 point fantasy weeks, and is ranked as the WR2 overall. Thielen has 6 TDs in 5 games, and has had 8+ targets in 4 out of 5 games this season. Oh we almost forgot it again, the Vikings play the Falcons who have given up 335.8 yards through the air per game which is 2nd worst in the league. I don’t need to keep breaking this chalk play down more and beat a dead horse, Falcons D is horrendous and Thielen is a stud. Photo: Vikings.com
Julio Jones- $6700
I have very little to say about Julio Jones, I have personal beef with him ruining one of my season long leagues. I will tell you that Julio Jones at $6700 is something I will take the bait on. Julio is a stud, but he has been hurt all season (or just really hated Dan Quin). Take the risk because nobody will be risking it, he is projected to be less than 5% owned. Calvin Ridley will be where most people will be going, and I’m sure I will have some shares by Sunday morning, but Julio at this price is something I can’t say no to.
Kenny Golladay/ Marvin Jones- $6200/$5100
Once upon a time, I placed a futures bet on Matthew Stafford to lead the league in passing yards in 2020. That seems to be money down the drain, but Kenny G is back, and Marvin Jones will eventually have his 3 TD game and this could be the week it happens. The Jaguars have been getting annihilated through the air, allowing 280 yards through the air per game which is good for 4th worst in the league. The fantasy points have not come to the WRs against the Jags, but they haven’t played the caliber of receiver core that the Lions have. I will for sure have ownership of both, but Kenny G is the better play for DraftKings.
Jamison Crowder- $6100
Jamison Crowder is a great way to get a piece of the strangest game I’ve ever want to be involved in. Crowder is 2nd in the NFL for FFPG of all WRs, I never thought I’d say those words. He is the cure for the Adam Gase Syndrome, the only player to ever produce more when Gase has been his coach. He has had at least 10 targets, 7 receptions and 100 yards in all three games he has played in this season. Now this comes at a risk because we will be playing the Dolphins Defense this week, but the ball has to go somewhere and Crowder will be eating that Chowder. Photo: USA Today
Devante Parker/Preston Williams- $6300/$4700
The Fins are feeling the FitzMagic, and will continue to put on a magic show against the Jets. We already talked about how bad the Jets are, It is a simple idea, play good players against bad teams. The Jets have given up 265 yards through the air, and would probably be much more if they could somehow stay in a game. I actually think that this game somehow stays competitive for at least a half, which will give the Dolphins WRs enough time to score plenty of fantasy points. Photo: USA Today
Jonnu Smith- $5200
I was a Jonnu believer before it was cool. I was at a crossroads at the end of last season whether to keep Jonnu or Mostert, and I’m not 100% sure I chose correctly. Jonnu has been more than I ever thought he could be, scoring 5 TDs in 4 games. He is a WR but bigger, and seems to be the most consistent pass catching option for the Titans. If I am paying any kind of money for TE this week it will be for Jonnu. Photo: AP Images
Irv Smith Jr- $2500
This play is not a play for maximum points from the TE position, but it is a play to get maximum points at every other position. Falcons defense and the minimum price seems like it's good enough for me. Side note: There have been rumors that the coaching staff liked what they saw out of Irv Smith and would like to utilize him more, but that just seems like coach-talk to me.
Matthew Stafford- $6300
Matthew Stafford has let me down this year more than you could ever imagine, but I think his debt has been paid and it is the week that the Pride finally have a breakout game in a great matchup vs the Jaguars.
Ryan Fitzpatrick- $5900
The magic continues in Week 6, as the #6 fantasy QB Ryan Fitzpatrick faces off against the Jets. Love the Stack of Fitz, Preston Williams/Devante Parker, Miles Gaskins, and running it back with Jamison Crowder this week. Photo: AP Images
Dolphins D or Cheapest D
J-E-T-S SUCK SUCK SUCK. Dolphins just made Jimmy G see ghosts like Sammy Smooches did last season. With Byron Jones finally playing, this defense is now somewhat respectful.
