Do you find a way to mess up your fantasy draft every year? Do you ever get to a certain point where you forget what to do? Do you walk in with one certain mindset, and if that goes wrong fast you're screwed? Draft season is quickly sneaking up on us, are you ready? We are here for you, to make sure things like this don’t happen. To maximize your team for a championship run. The age old saying is never wrong, “You cannot win your league during the draft, but you can certainly lose it.” Aside from giving you guys the best information in your ear holes, we have decided to make a Fantasy Draft Strategy Guide. This isn’t who to draft, not where to draft, this is a list of things that tend to go overlooked when you show up to your draft.
-Always keep your options open. You can’t fall in love with a player and have no backup plan if he is drafted right before you.
-Bring your own rankings, players who YOU value more than others. ESPN may like someone who you don’t value as high.
-This one is a big one for me. DO NOT DRAFT WITH ADP. Draft with player Tiers instead, this way you have your options, players that are about the same value in case your favorite guy gets drafted.
-Don’t drink too much at your Fantasy Draft. This is work, not play, you can celebrate how you destroyed your draft after its over. I’m not saying don’t drink at all, just know your limit when you start to lose focus. Hang out, enjoy the draft, talk shit, save the drinking for later.
-When it's not your turn, PAY ATTENTION. See who is drafting what position, one guy could be going WR heavy, and you’re drafting right before that person. You could easily take the last good RB off the board and he's left with a chump as his starter.
-Personally, I don’t make a huge deal about Bye weeks, since our league is so active with transactions, but if you are in a boring league, Don’t draft players that all have bye weeks the same two weeks. You're just begging for your team to lose two weeks. Giving yourself a disadvantage before the season starts
-You cannot draft players based on how they did last year. You are drafting for this year not last year.
-In the 1st round, Get the best player that will be guaranteed to finish high. Don’t get cute, Don’t draft injury prone guys that consistently miss time. Don’t draft a guy that might be holding out for a new contract.
-Mid and Late round players will make a bigger impact on your team than you might think. Don’t let up like everyone else, drafts are won in the late rounds.
-If you draft a stud running back, you may want to consider also drafting his Handcuff. If that stud you are so heavily relying on misses time, you won’t be scrambling to the waiver wire.
-If you are drafting at the turn, you will most likely have to reach for players especially earlier on. If you need someone on your team and you aren’t drafting for another 22 picks and he won't be there on the way back, it may be the best move to go get your guy.
-Unless you are in a SUPERFLEX 2QB league, DON'T DRAFT A QB IN THE FIRST ROUND.
-Always be wearing the FFD Merch, it is guaranteed to make you cooler during you draft. You will not be sweating bullets while in this ultra light, ultra soft Tee. Just kidding but had to give ourselves a plug.
Oh I’ll def be rocking that FFD tee bb
