The Return of The PPR King - DFS Week 9

Writer's picture: BillyFFDBillyFFD

Week 8 was a windy, cold, rainy wash of a week. I had to adjust almost all of my lineups on Sunday morning due to the weather across the Midwest of America. I knew the weather would play a factor to a point, but for anyone that watched the Raiders v Browns game and you saw the wind take the 30 yard field goal 25 yards to the left you knew it would be a bad day. Obviously I couldn’t make a whole new article on Sunday morning, so I apologize for the tough week.

I won’t lie to you, this week 9 slate is not my favorite, and in fact, I am struggling to build a lineup I truly am in love with. I will be giving a list down towards the end of extra plays that I will have shares of for the committed readers. There are games that I will be attacking but the prices are just strange to me this week. We will have to figure out the best way to score the most points as we always do week in and week out.

Dalvin Cook- $8200

Anyone who played against Dalvin Cook last week, I feel your pain, I lost my season long fantasy week in about a half hour because of him. When he plays, there is no denying his skills on the field. The Lions are another one of those matchups for Dalvin Cook where he could go absolutely ballistic. Detroit has given up 27.3 fantasy points per game to running backs, as well as giving up 1.6 touchdowns per game, both 2nd worst in the NFL. Photo: Sporting News

CMC- $8500

When you can get CMC for $8500, you play the king of the PPR format. It doesn’t matter who he is playing against, doesn’t matter what the weather will be, doesn’t matter if there is a global pandemic, you play him at this price. The Chiefs have been a good defense this season, but nobody can stop CMC, and I mean NOBODY. This is usually where I give you a cute stat to solidify my opinion on him. I have just one for you. Since the start of the 2019 season, nobody has more yards than CMC, and he has played in 7 less games than everyone that is close to him. Photo: CBS Sports

James Conner- $6900

Anyone playing the Dallas Cowboys have an added value next to their name, especially when it comes to running backs. The Cowgirls have given up 21.6 fantasy points per game to RBs this season, and now they are struggling to do anything on offense. This week's matchup with the Steelers stout defense will lead to extra rushing attempts. Lock him into your lineups, it will be a great fade from the first two options with some great value.

James Robinson- $7000

Most likely the Chalk Running back of the week with the matchup versus the Houston Texans. The Jaguars are rolling out 6th round pick Jake Luton for the start in Week 9, so expect a simplified game plan, including plenty of rushing opportunities for Robinson. He has been a bright spot on this bad team that can’t seem to do anything right since week 1. The Houston defense has been giving up rushing lanes big enough for a tank to drive through, giving up 165.9 yards per game on the ground which is 2nd worst in the NFL as well as allowing 1.3 TDs per game to running backs which is tied for 4th worst in the NFL. DeeJay Dallas- $5000

The Bills have been a bad rushing defense for the last few years, and that continues this year allowing 135 yards per game on the ground, good for 26th in the NFL. DeeJay Dallas may be the only healthy running back on the Seattle roster heading into Week 9, as they just brought Alex Collins up from the practice squad for some sort of depth. If you are paying up for one of the studs, Dallas may be a solid option for your lineup for some added value.

Diontae Johnson- $5000

Anytime you have a wide out for $5000 going against the embarrassing Cowboys secondary, who allow 29.4 fantasy points to WRs, you take advantage. With how most of my lineups will be set this week, I could really use the value. The Steelers should be humming in this game, and it will only take a little bit for Johnson to hit his value.

DK Metcalf/ Tyler Lockett- $7800/ $6800

If you can afford either of these players, get one. The #1 and #3 WRs on the season are a force to be reckoned with when Russell Wilson drops back to pass. According to the strange trend, Tyler Lockett won’t go off until next week, so I lean DK slightly. But to be fair, I do own Tyler Lockett in my home league and really could use the points. We can't say much about how good these two players are, but we can say that the Bills have been a bad defensive team this year. Quite the falling off for the Bills Mafia, allowing 223 passing yards per game, which is somewhat skewed since they have played the Jets twice now. Lock one of these two in for a big week, as long as you pick the right one!

Stefon Diggs/John Brown- $7400/ $4600

GO BILLS! I am fairly certain that Josh Allen will bounce back in this game, which means his wide outs will also bounce back in a big way. Seattle has been the laughing stock of the league when it comes to passing yards, allowing 358.7 yards per game which is 40 more yards than the next worst team. Seattle has also given up 36.1 fantasy points to wide outs, which is improved from their 45+ per game only a few weeks ago. If you trust Josh Allen like I do, I would try to stick one of these two or even both into your lineups this week. Side Note: Gabriel Davis is a great value play and could be good for a random touchdown.

Will Fuller / Brandin Cooks- $6800/ $5500

I’ve had a love hate relationship with these two players all season, I own both of them in separate leagues, and have been forced to start both of them so only one has a great day at a time. This week they face off against a horrid Jaguars pass defense who have allowed an average of 281.9 yards per game, and have allowed at least 300 yards the last two games. I like both of them to have a great day, if you can afford to pay up for Fuller I would prefer him, Cooks is the value play. Photo: Houston Chronicle

Deshaun Watson- $7200

Deshaun Watson versus the Jaguars is my high price QB of the week. The Jaguars have been getting destroyed through the air like I spoke about before. Lock him in for the added rushing yards.

Josh Allen-$7000

If you want to risk it for the biscuit, Josh Allen is your guy. I really hope he bounces back in a big way. The Seattle secondary should be no match for the big arm of Joshy boy in this one.

Albert O.-$2800

Cheap, could catch a few passes, more of a play of where else you can get points from. Bonus points if you can say his name on the first try without reading it.

Pay up for Steelers Defense boys and girls, who knows what kind of tom-foolery we will see from the Cowboys.

I will be plugging these plays into lineups for some variability since I am not crazy about the slate, I want to be 100% transparent with you guys and girls:
