Waiver Wire Madness Week 8

Writer's picture: BillyFFDBillyFFD

Let me be honest with you guys, this year’s waiver wire has been uneventful. This week it continues with the boring options, nothing sexy unless you are into the Gronk Spring Break Dance. I’m sure you will be reading multiple Waiver Wire articles talking about all of these backup running backs as great options to pick up. This article will have no mention of any New York running back, and rightfully so! We are heading into the midway point of the NFL season, and the bye week hell is coming fast, pull up your boot straps and be prepared before it is too late.

Rob Gronkowski- 82% owned

The TB12 to Gronk connection is finally starting to look like the good ol days up in New England. People thought Gronk would just come in and be an immediate factor, but it takes time to get to NFL speed especially after a year of drinking and partying. He has at least 5 targets and at least 50 receiving yards in the last three games. He has also caught a TD in back to back games in typical Gronk fashion. I was skeptical to start the year but with how atrocious the TE spot has been, he is worth owning. P.S. I am aware he is 82% owned, but at this point he should just be 100% owned.

Carlos Hyde- 5% owned

Surprise, Surprise, Chris Carson is hurt again. Carlos Hyde is not nearly as good as Chris Carson but he is a starting running back for a winning football team. Hyde is coming off of a 68 yard game on 15 carries for a TD, he also had 3 receptions for a measly 8 yards. It is currently unclear how long Carson will miss, and the Seahawks face off against the 49ers and their stout run D in Week 8.

Joe Burrow- 49% owned

Joe Burrow is a stud and it still shocks me that he is less than 50% owned. That will change this week, as he just lit up the Browns for 400 yards in a wild game that ended in a loss. If you read my DFS article, you know I was a big Burrow guy last week. Burrow has over 2,000 passing yards on the season, and I have a feeling the TDs are going to start rolling in. Either way, The Tiger King is a viable option as a starter most weeks due to how bad his defense is. Photo: Getty Images

Cole Beasley- 39% owned

In the typical Cole Beasley fashion, he is on pace for 90 receptions for over 1,000 yards. He is the perfect flex play for anyone who will be entering bye week hell. Will never get you that 30+ game but he will give you that safe 12 point floor that will always keep you in games.

Brandon Aiyuk- 21% owned

We already talked about this man a few weeks back, and here we are again. Deebo Samuel is once again hurt, this time with a hamstring injury which is never good for a WR. Aiyuk never should’ve been dropped in the way that he was, the kid is a real weapon that the 49ers should honestly look to more often. Keep an eye out for Aiyuk as he could be a solid option for the rest of season as his role could continue to grow.

Saints D

I will take whatever defense goes against the following teams: Jets, Cowboys, or the Bears. By now the other two defensive teams should be rostered so let's go with the Saints D this week as the stream of the week.
