Contrarian Lineups Everywhere - DFS Week 8

Writer's picture: BillyFFDBillyFFD

Welcome back you Degenerates th the weekly DFS Article! Sorry about the last few weeks as I have been running low on time for my lovely readers, but fret no more because I am here and will be the rest of season for you all! Last time I saw you, we had an average week, nothing to write home about, certainly no Brinks trucks backing into our accounts. This week I am hoping to turn things around for everyone with a stack that most people won’t dare touch. This is what separates the men from the boys, the ability to take risks and have them pay off!

Carson Wentz - $5700

Is this an ugly play? Absolutely, but I will not be afraid. Colts and Titans rivalry always is filled with both regular points and fantasy points. In order for this division game to bring the heat, Carson Wentz will need to play well for the Colts to remain competitive in this one. The Titans have given up just under 275 yards per game through the air, and an average of 25 completions per game, that should be plenty of time for Wentz to get solid return on his price in this one.

Josh Allen - $8100

Why? Because he is Josh Allen going against the Dolphins. Last time he faced the Dolphins, Allen really didn’t need to do too much to beat them. Since the last matchup, the Dolphins offense has woken up, so hopefully this game will be more competitive than the last matchup. Josh Allen fresh off a bye week? I’ll take some of that with a side of 5 TDs please.

Alvin Kamara - $8700

Everyone and their mother will be off of Alvin Kamara this week, which is exactly why I will be all over him. The casuals will see that big red number next to Kamara’s name, but will miss the big statistic that will separate the men from the boys. Tampa is a top team against the run, but they allow an average of just under 8 receptions to running backs per game. Currently, Kamara leads this Saints team in receptions with 25, leads the team in targets with 33, and leads the team in receiving TDs with 4. This technically is a contrarian play since it is a tough matchup for him on the ground, but through the air he will be vital in the offensive gameplan.

Darrell Henderson - $6500

Darrell Henderson and the Rams are facing off against the Houston Texans in Week 8. Texans are ranked dead last in tackling this season, and have allowed an average of 127 yards on the ground to running backs. With the spread at -14, Vegas believes this game will be a blowout, Henderson should be getting garbage time work in the second half of the game. Henderson is currently averaging 4.3 yards per carry, and just under 70 ypg. He has also had all 4 of his rushing touchdowns come in the red zone, which makes him valuable in this contest. This is a positive matchup at a decent price, especially if you aren’t paying up at running back!

Kenneth Gainwell - $5000

If you are playing Kamara, you will need a cheap starting option as a second running back. Kenny Gainwell is a great pass catching back, which bodes well for any Eagles RB since they hardly run the ball. The Lions have given up 22.3 fantasy points per week to the RB position. In a game that should be close, I like having the passing down back as my second option in this weeks slate.

Larry Roundtree - $4400

If Ekeler is out, Roundtree will see the passing down work which is vital for the Chargers offense. Honestly I believe that he should get the full workload, since Joshua Kelley and Justin Jackson aren’t very good.

Michael Pittman - $5300

This sneaky stack is perfect for tournaments this week, I don’t think anyone in their right mind would be playing Wentz this week. Wentz and Pittman have seemed to find a connection both on and off the field in the last few weeks, coming of a 100 yard game adding in a TD for the boys back home. The division rival Titans are giving up just under 275 yards per game through the air this season. Pittman had 6 receptions on 12 targets for 68 yards last time these two teams matched up earlier in the year.

Chris Godwin - $6400

With the way that Mike Evans and Marshon Lattimore fight with each other like school children every time they matchup, Antonio Brown and Gronk both coming back from injuries, this is a perfect week to throw Godwin into lineups. If the Bucs want to win this game it will have to be through the air. The Saints have given up 250 passing yards per game, which ranks 12th most in the NFL. Godwin has seen 27 targets in the last 3 games, and I expect that to continue in this one. This has Godwin week written all over it, my fantasy team hates that, but my DFS lineups will love it.

Diontae Johnson - $6700

The Steelers are heading into Cleveland against their division rivals in which the Browns. The Browns have been a stout defense this year, but in the last 3 games, they have given up 257 yards per game through the air. Diontae Johnson is averaging 10 targets per game this season even while Big Ben has played all year with that noodle arm of his. With the absence of JuJu, Diontae has been an absolute machine in fantasy football, averaging 18.4 PPR points per game this year. Johnson can be an option every week, but I especially like him in this matchup against the banged up secondary of Cleveland.

AJ Brown - $6900

Full disclosure, I planned on having Julio Jones in this spot after AJ Brown had a big game last week, but in typical fashion Julio will not play in this matchup. Therefore, AJ Brown will be my play on the Titans side this week as a bringback from the Wentz stack. Brown has had 15 receptions for 224 yards and a TD in his last two games, looking every bit as good as he did last season. Should be a play every single week until Julio is fully healthy. The Colts have given up 10.8 yards per completion which makes AJ Brown a great play because after all, he is the YAC King.

Mo Alie Cox - $3200

No stack is truly complete if you don’t have a 6’6” 270 pound Tight End in your lineup. This behemoth has 4 TDs on the season and is always a threat in the redzone. For the price, it is worth fishing for a TD. The Titans have done a great job at neutralizing the TE position, but there are plenty of targets to go around since Parris Campbell is out for the year.

Tommy Sweeney - $2900

I will take the flier on the backup TE in this matchup against the Dolphins. Dawson Knox is a great talent, but he is out in this one after recovering from a minor hand procedure, which leaves Tommy Sweeney to step up to the plate. At the price it’s worth the shot for a TD as the Bills have been looking for their TEs more often in the red zone.
