My Ride or Die 2020 Fantasy Football Players -BillyFFD's My Guys

Writer's picture: BillyFFDBillyFFD

We are now exactly ONE WEEK from the return of the NFL. Everyone has players that they love, players that they hate, or players they are unsure about. Every single year we attach ourselves to certain players that we either ride or die with. Players that will test your knowledge, and test your patience. Players that you would go in the trenches with and follow tThese players are not my top ranked players, otherwise I would just put my top player in each category. These are MY GUYS that I will be trying to grab in every draft I have. I currently own 3 out of the 5 players on this list in my main league, and at the time of typing this out, have a trade offer for another one. Welcome to the 2020 version of My Guys!

Todd Gurley

I promise you I will get the most hate for this one than any other take I already have or will make. Let me paint you a picture: the year is 2020, the world is in shambles, everything seems upside down, except one thing; Todd Gurley will be a top 12 fantasy running back. The man was made to score touchdowns, 70 total touchdowns in 73 career games. In 2019, with “bum knees” and a bad Offensive line, he scored 14 times. The only difference between 2018 and 2019 besides the poor line he ran behind was the lack of targets he received out of the backfield. This is how good Gurley has been in his career, he finished with 1,064 total yards and 14 touchdowns and that was a bad year for him. I wish he fell to me in my draft, I missed him by 1 pick and that bastard will not let him go.

Hayden Hurst

You guys remember how dominant Austin Hooper was last year? Everyone meet Hayden Hurst, Hayden meet everyone. Same position, same team, different player. He is fast for a tight end, but still has the size to run you over. Hurst has very strong hands, in college he only had one dropped pass, and in his NFL career he has a catch rate of 77%. This is the Hayden Hurst breakout year and I am the conductor of this hype train! Fantasy football is about opportunity and the Falcons love throwing the ball, especially to the tight end. I will be riding this train the whole season and I cannot wait to be right.

Henry Ruggs

If you have read anything I’ve written on here, you have seen my guy Henry Ruggs somewhere. I have hyped him up on the blog posts all summer and here is his return to glory. He walks into the number one option in Vegas purely on his athletic talent alone. He will use his insane release, and quick head fakes to take a quick five yard slant to the house all year long. His 4.27 speed will be a major problem for defenses all year long. Ruggs has always had a nose for the end zone as well, scoring 24 times on only 94 catches. He has the ability to play all over the field, and Gruden will be sure to use his new toy in any and every way possible to win games.

Tyler Boyd

This has a lot to do with the idea that I believe in two things. 1.) The Bengals are not as bad as their 2-14 record showed last year, and 2.) I believe Joe Burrow is the real deal. Tyler Boyd has been winning people fantasy leagues since 2018 and this year will be no different. Boyd is coming off back to back 1,000 yard seasons and 100 target seasons. The reports from Bengals training camp is that Boyd and Burrow are building great chemistry, while AJ Green is finally starting to practice this week. If these rumors are true, Tyler Boyd could easily finish as a top 20 WR but is being drafted as the WR31. So let’s recap that last sentence, high floor, high ceiling, good volume, and great value? That’s my kind of guy.

Matthew Stafford

He was my QB sleeper/value pick of the year, and he will be one of my guys I ride or die with this year. I promise you won’t be disappointed in this pick. Since I have gone into detail about how undervalued he is I will keep this short. Stafford was well on his way to a career year last season before injury ended his season early. He has the weapons to be a top 5 QB, has the bad defense to keep him throwing, and has the confidence to throw the ball 600 times in a season. If TJ Hockenson progresses in his sophomore year, expect a 5,000 yard season incoming for Stafford.
