Week 1 of the NFL season is over and what a weekend it was. Things didn’t go the way a lot of people thought they would. Nobody saw the Chiefs coming out and being a run first team, and nobody saw the Titans be a pass heavy team. I’d bet my bank account that nobody had Big Ben having more rushing yards than Saquon on Monday Night. We did see the Titans miss a hundred field goals, but we all saw that one coming. It felt like life was almost back to normal this weekend, sitting in front of a TV with a brew of choice, watching football all day long. What a time to be alive.
Your fantasy team might not have performed the way it should’ve in Week 1, like how my team shit the bed in what should've been an easy win for me. Some teams might have pulled off an upset over a stacked team, because in the NFL one thing’s for certain, you never know what will happen.
Early in the season, you need to be a waiver wire hawk, always watching who is being picked up, who is being dropped. Some crazy things happen, people lose faith too early, people buy into false hype. Every week from now until the end of the season, we will break down our favorite waiver wire pickups. In my honest opinion, Weeks 1-4 on the waiver wire are the most important, they can make or break a borderline team. In 2020, some of these players can have a season long impact on your team. Some are players that go overlooked. I believe next week will be the most important waiver wire of the season but only time will tell.
Nyheim Hines (19% owned)

Austin Ekeler 2.0 in the flesh. Phillip Rivers still sucks and seems to enjoy sucking. I expect garbage time receptions from Hines all year, similar to how Ekeler had the past few years. Hines played on 52% of snaps last week, and he had 6 touches inside the red zone. With the Marlon Mack injury taking him out for the rest of the year, his volume should only increase as the Colts continue to be bad. Opportunity to be a RB2/Flex option in your lineup, especially if your team is weak at the RB slot. Rivers will continue to throw 4th quarter INTs, and will continue to check down to the running back all season long.
Benny Snell (13% owned)

Benny Snell looked really damn good on Monday night after James Conner went out with an ankle injury (typical). Before the injury, Conner was very inefficient while Snell was going nuts on the ground. Snell runs with aggression, always fighting for that extra yard. He ran for 113 yards on 19 carries against the Giants defense who were supposed to be bad, but actually played a decent game. I can see a scenario where Snell outright wins the job in Pittsburgh. He needs a repeat performance for him to win the starting role, but for immediate impact, Benny Snell is a great option for your team.
Robby Anderson 31% owned

We tried to tell you about Robby Anderson on the Podcast, but 69% of people (nice) didn’t want to listen to us. Now here you are, scrambling to the waiver wire to scoop him up. Anderson already knows the offense that is being put in place, and seemed to have an early chemistry with Teddy Bridgewater. Anderson caught 6 passes for 115 yards and a score while seeing 8 targets in Week 1. I expect him to stay about the same in usage, which puts him at WR2 upside. If he’s not owned in your league, he needs to be.
Malcolm Brown (27% owned)

Malcolm Brown looked much better than Cam Akers did in Week 1, and I’m of firm belief that the starting role is his for now. I have him lower than most because I believe the backfield will still be split, and fantasy football is all about volume and opportunity. He was out there for 44 of 73 snaps, rushing 18 times for 79 yards with 3 receptions for 31 yards. The two touchdowns against the Cowboys were both inside the 5 yard line. The chances for a breakout is there, he just needs to go out there again next week and show that hes not just a Week 1 guy.
Parris Campbell 20% owned

Parris Campbell had a ton of hype around him last year as the guy that would replace TY Hilton, and that hype may be coming to fruition this year with Rivers tossing the ball all over the place. He finished Week 1 with 6 catches for 71 yards on 9 targets. Campbell led all WRs in snaps, targets, yards, and tied for the most catches. Rivers is used to throwing the ball in the slot with his time with Keenan Allen , which is were Campbell lines up. I expect this production to continue as the season goes on, because once again Rivers sucks. This could be a league winning connection if the production continues.
